Mosley granted permission to sue paper

FIA president Max Mosley will seek 'exemplary' damages when he sues the News of the World for breach of privacy, the Times newspaper reported today.

In a preliminary hearing this week, The NOTW's lawyers requested that Mosley only be allowed to ask for compensatory damages, and asked the judge to void the claim for exemplary damages Mosley was seeking prior to the start of the trial.

But the judge said this was an area of 'developing jurisprudence' and that a ruling should not be made until all the facts in the case have been heard.

The High Court will hear Mosley's case next week.
