Hamilton missing the winning feeling

Hamilton missing the winning feeling

Lewis Hamilton says he is missing the feeling of winning a race as he aims to end Ferrari's run of victories at this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

"This weekend obviously I want to get points, but I want to win," Hamilton told reporters. "I miss winning, so that's my plan."

The McLaren driver won the season opener in Australia but Ferrari have been dominant since then, taking three consecutive wins, including two one-two finishes.

The Italian squad arrive in Turkey as favourites, especially after their two victories in previous years at the Istanbul circuit.

Hamilton is aiming to stop their run.

He added: "I never approach the race ever thinking I am the favourite anyway, it doesn't make any difference. Felipe has won here the last two years, but we are here to put an end to that I guess. It is the same every weekend.

"They have done a good job in the last few races and we will push hard to overcome that."

The Briton admitted his anxiety grows as his win-less streak does.

"It does, I think so. We are racers and we want to win," said Hamilton after taking part in a special performance of Troy.

"I've tasted it quite a few times now, and that is what we are here to do. We are here to win, and as a driver when you come to a team you need to be innovative, you need to come with lots of ideas and keep on pushing the team, and the energy to keep on pushing and keep on asking questions.

"That is the bit I love about this job. When you come to the race, and all that comes together and you win - it is one of the best feelings you can have.

"I believe in the team and my abilities, so I have no doubts that we can do it. But it is easier said than done, so I think this weekend we could have a good shot."
