De la Rosa tops Algarve test

De la Rosa tops Algarve test

Pedro de la Rosa topped the times for McLaren on the second day of testing at the new Portimao track in Portugal on Tuesday.

Taking over duties from Gary Paffett, the Spaniard spent the whole day working with the team's KERS car - despite some frustrations caused by the low grip conditions early in the day.

In the end, improved temperatures allowed more fruitful work in the afternoon and de la Rosa could concentrate on some 2009 aero testing, including the front wing and the moveable flick-ups.

Ferrari fielded two cars, for Luca Badoer and Marc Gene, as they focused on set-up work and tyre evaluation - plus more engine endurance work to cope with the three-race requirement in 2009.
