Honda hold fire on shakedown plans

Honda Racing are to wait longer than was originally believed before shaking down their new Formula One car, autosport.com has learned, with sources revealing that they do not intend to run at Silverstone this Thursday.

There had been widespread speculation in the media over the past week that the Brackley-based team would run at Silverstone as the outfit close in on completing a deal to secure its future.

Although that will not be the case, autosport.com understands that the team are still making preparations for a first run with their new car in advance of its first full test.

It is not clear whether that shakedown will take place at Silverstone or at another venue.

Pending the timing of the shakedown, it is understood that the team should be able to make the final group test of the pre-season build-up, which takes place at Barcelona next week.
